Searching for excellent media, entertainment and sports (MES) lawyers can be challenging particularly at the 5-8 year PQE industry sector sweet spot. Time and again even the highest ranked teams struggle to find senior-junior MES lawyers with the right experience, exposure and chemistry. The emphasis these teams so often place upon finding someone with the right cultural and team fit makes the search even harder.
As a search and recruitment firm Mimoza Fleur always works creatively to find its clients the best – and most suited – candidates given the weight we place on ‘matching’. Although the overwhelming majority of our candidates are referred to us by former candidates, we always think dynamically and creatively about how to source the best lawyers and match them to the best opportunities. Our policy of only working within our sector specialisms means we are always on the front foot when it comes to market knowledge, which has obvious benefits for clients and candidates alike.
For example, our client, a market leading – tier 1 ranked – MES team, searched long and hard for a senior-junior MES lawyer. Naturally given their market dominance, profile and client base they wanted the very best wo/man for the job. Many rounds of interviews later – through various other recruitment firms – they still hadn’t met the right person and couldn’t for many reasons progress any of the people they met. The team became under increasing pressure and the partners were reluctant to devote many more interview hours.
It wasn’t until we persuaded our client to meet with our candidate – a magic circle trained (and retained) funds lawyer at a top ranked U.S firm – that the position was filled (and not before time!). We knew the professional chemistry was right since we meet all of our candidates and we work extremely closely with all of our clients (directly via the hiring partners and recruitment personnel) on specialised briefs that are only within our sector expertise. We also have the very best industry contacts in this sector and know a MES lawyer (and those in the making) when we see one.
Four interviews and two assessments later an offer was made and accepted. Our candidate was absolutely delighted to have finally seen his ‘pipedream’ turn into a reality in the most undreamable of circumstances: ‘Dead chuffed – you’ve done an incredible job to get us to this point’. Our client was too overjoyed not least because they didn’t have to lose any more valuable and precious partner time to recruitment. It was ‘win win’ for everyone.
If your profile or opportunity falls within our sector specialisms and you would like to speak to us about collaborating, please get in touch.
